MALTA VILLAGE

Malta Bake Shop Mural

The Malta Village is located in West-end Toronto in "The Junction" area and occupies a section of Dundas Street West between Quebec and Runnymede. This is the heart of the original Maltese community where the early Maltese immigrants settled when they arrived in Toronto.

This stretch of Dundas Street is quite old. There are quite a few Maltese businesses in this area as well as St. Paul the Apostle Parish Church and a small park named "Malta Park".

Some of the Maltese businesses located in the Malta Village include the Malta Bake Shop, Melita Travel Service, Buskett Bakery, and Mid-Med Bank.

In November of 1997 the residents in the Junction and Malta Village voted in favour of rescinding the liquor-free by-law that had been in place for 96 years. As a result restaurants in the area, including the Malta Bake Shop, can apply for a liquor licence. Those Pastizzi will go down smooth with a cold bear in the summer months!

The MCST (Maltese Canadian Society of Toronto) is also located in the Malta Village.
